This year is the 100th year of the Spanish Jesuits coming to Gujarat, a landmark year in the history of service to mankind by the Society of Jesus. Of the 95 Jesuits, 18 were Brothers. Brothers who came from Spain were multifaceted personalities. They were talented, skillful, self-made men; colourful characters of varied shades and hues, i.e. with a “Midas Touch”. They excelled in whatever they did. I don’t think I will be able to do justice to this daunting task of encapsulating the lives of these luminaries and giants. I had the rare privilege of knowing, working and living with them. Due to space constraints, I will focus only on two of their major contributions.
