Ignatian Heritage and Ashram Ministry

Jesuits have always been pioneers in meeting new challenges of the times. When science challenged religion, they met that challenge as scientists, and so also in the social fields as lawyers and social workers. In fact, they are found in practically every field of human endeavour. Today we are facing a new challenge. People, especially the younger generation all over the world, are leaving traditional religions and going after Yogic gurus, Buddhist masters and Sufi seers to quench their spiritual thirst. But we don’t find many Jesuits as gurus, yogis and spiritual masters to meet this challenge. This calls for a sincere and critical examination of our commitment and spirituality, with clarity of the goal of our life and its various stages of development.
