Just as the cry of the boat people of Vietnam in 1979 shocked Pedro Arrupe to initiate the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in the Society, the plight of People of Concern (PoC) fleeing away from Myanmar to India via Mizoram and Manipur, motivated the Jesuit Refugee Service-South Asia (JRS-SA) to start a new intervention in the North-eastern States of Mizoram and Manipur, to respond creatively to the human-made calamities.
