The Consortium of minority schools in Tamil Nadu was inaugurated on 28th November in Loyola College, Chennai. About 170 leaders, consisting of diocesan education managers of the CSI dioceses, superintendents of schools of the RC dioceses, education coordinators of different Religious Congregations, EC members of Muslim umbrella organizations participated in this event.
Political leaders from minority communities came as special invitees for the inauguration. All the leaders stressed the need to come together and strengthen the consortium at this crucial juncture.
Deliberating on some vital issues like sanctioning of the Inauguration of the Consortium of Minority Schools in Tamil Nadu approved posts in aided schools, education policy for Tamil Nadu etc., the consortium resolved to meet the CM and Education minister of TN and make a collective representation on all issues; and if need be, resort to the courts and organize peaceful public protests.
A core team consisting of ten members was constituted.
Frs. DF. John Bosco, Secretary of TANCEAN (Tamil Nadu Catholic Education Association) and SM. John Kennedy SJ, Director of JCERT pioneered this venture.
