We, Daughters of the Cross, are required to make a month’s retreat based on the Ignatian Exercises before the final vows. The value of this directive was brought home to me powerfully in my month’s retreat in 1990. During the Contemplations of the Second Week, while contemplating the mysteries of the hidden life, I had an experience of placing myself with Mary and Joseph at Nazareth playing with Jesus. The memory of that experience is still vivid and comes to me whenever I visit the Bandra Retreat House, the venue of my retreat.
