The ISI Delhi, organized the first offline course post-pandemic on the topic ‘Critical Thinking and Social Analysis in Contemporary India’ (CTSACI). Altogether, 21 participants: Scholastics from 7 provinces, 6 DHM Sisters and one FMM Sister took part in it. The 10 days program was from 20th – 30th April. The program commenced on the 20th morning. Fr. Jerome Stanislaus D’souza – the POSA, graced the inaugural function and floated the ideas of conscientization and deconstruction. The 10 days intensive program covered the topics like Social Analysis and Critical Thinking, Learned Approach to Apostolate, the Unholy Trinity (State, Market and Civil Society), Social Movements, Political Paradigm Shifts, Major Political Ideologies and the Political Spectrum, Communal Politics, Hindu Nationalism, Dalit/Ambedkar Perspectives, Ethnography – lens to view society, Tribal Perspectives, Village, Caste, Kinship in Retrospect, Cities in Retrospect, Gender Perspectives, Media, Education, Health, Environment, Displacement, Climate Refugees and Constitution/Legal Perspective.
A field visit was organized for the participants to help them internalize the learnings of the session. The participants showed great interest in the issues discussed and in their final presentation brought out their learnings and insights very creatively. The program ended with an evaluation and the Valedictory function, graced by Fr. Arjen Tete, S.J., the CDF. The resource persons, Dr Denzil Fernandes SJ, Dr Amit Mitra, Dr Vincent Ekka SJ, Dr Subhadra Mitra Channa, Dr Thomas Verghese SJ, Dr Anthony Dias SJ and Fr. Ravi Sagar enlightened us with their profound knowledge and insights. The participants, hailing from different parts of the country, enriched the group learning and benefitted a great deal from the course. With the valuable guidance and accompaniment of Dr Lancy Lobo SJ and Dr Alwyn D’souza SJ, the program was a huge success.
