Pope Francis, out of the sheer goodness of his heart, reversed the age-old trend of organizing synods. This time it’s not voices from the top dictating to the lower ranks. Rather, LISTENING to the raw experiences of the grass roots, was to be the modus operandi. The Holy Father wanted the day-to-day experiences of the “People of God” to reach the top. This was to be the foundation of a new Church. This is why the first phase of the synod was the diocesan phase which concluded recently in all the dioceses of the Church.
