The Jesuits of three different countries planted and nurtured the Faith in Bombay and along India’s west coast.
The first were the Portuguese in the region of Salsette and Vasai, from 1548 to 1739. Next, Jesuits from Germany, Austria and Switzerland established a network of schools and colleges, parishes and missions from 1853 to 1919.
