All the 13 high schools and over 25 primary schools run by the Jesuits of Kohima are located in interior villages. The concept of a boarding house attached to a school is nothing new, and almost every high school in Kohima Region has one. What is different about the three ‘Children’s Homes’ here – Eden Gardens in Khuzama (Nagaland), Olive Garden in Dawagre (Meghalaya) and Joshua Home in Liyai (Manipur) – is the particular situation and context of Northeast India that defined the special character of these homes.
