Emerging India provides the Church an opportunity to understand the socio-economic, political, cultural, religious, etc. possibilities and challenges around. The Church in India can play a major role in upholding the constitutional and Gospel values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. It has to work with all people of goodwill – citizens, intellectuals, activists, etc. – in re-establishing a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic India. The Church has the potential to invite everyone to work for the well-being of all citizens. For this she has to understand and address certain issues.
