Capturing Insights about Higher Learning: Interview with John Dardis, SJ

Only recently did I come to know the city of Deusto, in the rich suburb of Bilbao which is the main city in the Basque region of Spain. It is also the karmabhoomi of Blessed Francisco Garate, and the janmabhoomi of Fr Pedro Arrupe. The third meeting of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) met on the imposing campus of Deusto University (July 8-12, 2018). Inaugurated by King Felipe VI who lauded the 500 years of Jesuit contribution to the development of faith, humanism and the dignity of the person, the meeting was chaired by Fr General. The theme was: “Transforming Our World Together,” the aim being to examine and reflect upon the more important challenges that Jesuit institutions of higher learning, and the rest of the world, were facing.
